Captain Fred Hershman and Kathy Hershman are a husband and wife team dedicated to giving you the most exclusive experience you can have in the waters off of Santa Barbara. Both Kathy and Fred are deeply committed to Santa Barbara and the waterfront community with years of experience on or near boats, including Santa Barbara’s original, authorized water taxi, Lil’ Toot.

Captain Fred holds a 100-ton, near coastal Masters license and has over 40 years of experience in both pleasure and commercial vessels. Capt. Fred was also in the U.S. Coast Guard and is a decorated veteran from the Vietnam War. Captain Fred started Santa Barbara Water Taxi, LLC in 2003 and has accommodated over 250,000 passengers over the past 8+ years.

Kathy Hershman has been an integral part of the success of Santa Barbara Water Taxi utilizing her skills for management and organization to keep the business running smoothly. Kathy is the official event planner and cruise director for the "Celebration Cruises" fleet. Call Kathy to organize your event! The "Celebration" is a U.S. Coast Guard certified boat manufactured in 1990 by Hills Marine in Seal Beach, California. It is powered by two 550 HP Detroit Diesels and has a top speed of 15 knots.
