Santa Barbara Celebrates 27th Boat Parade of Lights
Santa Barbara may be a gorgeous seaside paradise with nearly perfect weather, but that doesn’t mean we don’t get into the winter holiday spirit around here! One of Santa Barbara’s favorite holiday festivities is the annual Santa Barbara Parade of Lights for its unique local flair!
The Parade of Lights is not your average parade, because this parade takes place right off the coast in the water! Every year the boats from the Santa Barbara Harbor deck their “decks” with festive holiday lights and decorations before setting sail outside of the harbor.
This year, Sunday, December 9, celebrates the 27th Parade of Lights celebration in Santa Barbara with a theme of “Starry, Starry Night”. Festivities begin a 3:00pm on the City Pier (Stearns Wharf) with a Santa’s Village, 3 tons of snow and a real life Santa Claus. At 5:30 pm the Boat Parade of Lights starts it journey around Stearns Wharf, with a Judging Party taking place at local winery Deep Sea. Immediately following the parade is a fireworks show you won’t want to miss.
You will be able to catch a glimpse of Celebration Cruises Santa Barbara as it follows the parade decked out in lights and charters a private party to view the parade right from the water. In past years Celebration Cruises and Santa Barbara Water Taxi have enjoyed participation on the Parade and have donated their vessel to the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation to take children out on the water to experience the event.
